If you visit Singapore you shall be mesmerized by the grandeur of the Heritage Plaza also known as the Empress Place Building. It is a wing of the Asian Civilizations Museum at present that is located on the north bank of the Singapore River. This place is one of the tourist attractions from across the sea. In the colonial age the Empress Place Building was called the Government Building only but afterwards it was designated by its current name. It became one of the famous offices of the Government that has unique architectural grandeur and is situated adjacent to the Maxwell's House.The Municipal council in the year 1907 gave the name Empress Place Building in tribute to the queen Victoria. Being the oldest pedestrian space in Singapore, the Empress Place Building it gradually became one of the most prominent offices in Singapore that can be viewed from the sea. Two additional structures known as the Memorial Hall and the Tower were erected in the year 1905 and renovations were done on a regular basis. It has a neo Palladian exterior and timber fin windows with patched clay tile roofs. The Doric columns and high ceiling enhances the charm of the Empress Place Building.
