Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan is a small but a very important exhibition hall of the Busan Museum in South Korea. Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan was opened on April, 2004 and it mainly exhibits important contents, related to the history and culture of Korea during the Neolithic period (10,000 to 1,000 B.C.).

Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan is actually comprised of two exhibition halls. The chief highlight of the Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan is the Dongsam-dong shell midden, one of the most important sites of Korean Neolithic Culture. By displaying large amount of pottery, stone tools, bone tools, the Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan, interprets lifestyle and culture of the Neolithic people around 7,500 to 3,500 years ago.

Shell middens are the piles of shells discarded by the prehistoric people, who sometimes made ornaments and tools out of the shell after eating shellfish. Shell middens usually contain various kinds of animal bones, fish bones, plant remains, and prehistoric implements. These shells and tools and ornaments made from the shells are the major items exhibited here.

Various kinds of tools including include hunting devices, fishing equipment, agricultural tools, and other utilitarian tools made of out of stone, animal bones or antlers, and other materials easily found around their village are also found in the Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan.

The potteries of the Neolithic Period, called Chulmun potteries. "Chulmun" means "comb-marked decorations", i.e. potteries implying decoration applied with a toothed implement are also among the important contents exhibited in the Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan.

By presenting all this fascinating remains from the past the Dongsam-dong Shell Mound Exhibition Hall, Busan has been successful in preserving as well as in upholding the essence of the Busan as well as Korean culture of the Neolithic period.
