Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra is emerging as a premiere orchestra in Korea. It was established in the year 1984 and since its constitution it has gained so much popularity that it is said that it will become the leading orchestra of the world in the 21 st century.

In 1984, the opening concert was organized by the full-time conductor Doo-young Jung.

In 2004, the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Till date seven hundred performances have taken place and the melodious tunes have enthralled the listeners. All these various kinds of concerts include New Year concert, year ending concerts, youths concert, concerts for children, family concert, Valentine Day concert, Christmas concert and et cetera, thus there are concerts for every occasion. Apart from this creative programs and advanced marketing performances have also been arranged.

The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra has innovated and experimented different forms of music with the help of Korean composers. Recently this orchestra is trying to commercialize the culture.

In 2001, the Art Director Shinik Hahm was appointed and hence the popularity of the orchestra went up by leaps and bounds. Feted composers, performers and world-famous musicians such as Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, Mahler, Berlioz, Walton and Schonfield have performed in these concerts and have showcased their repertoire.

In the year 2003, the world- famed maestros played varied genres of music ranging from Baroque to modern music in the orchestra performance and this Philharmonic Orchestra of Daejeon was acclaimed as the best orchestra in Korea.

Besides the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra startled the music industry of Asia when it played host to Walton's 'Belshazzar's Feast, Trombone Concert' and Schonfield's 'Piano and orchestra. The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra has gifted excellent musical performances by innovating and experimenting with different forms. It has also performed at the best stages of the world and has inspired a rich music culture.
