U do Island in Jeju
U-do Island is an islet near the eastern area of Jeju Island. U-do is named after its peculiar shape which is said to resemble a cow lying down or the head of a cow. The Udo Island is located three and a half kilometers north east of Seongsan-po and it takes just fifteen minute if you go by boat. Getting there by boat does not pose too much of a problem as it the boat makes 4 to 5 round trips daily. Udo Island is famous for its beautiful coral sand beach.The southern region of Udo Island has a cave called Gwangdaegoji. There is an interesting phenomenon called the 'Dalgeurian' or the “day moon” which can be seen in this cave. This phenomenon takes place when the sun shining through the entrance of the cave is reflected on the ceiling. The reflection looks just like a moon and is at happens at 12 noon it is called the “day moon”. Visitors interested in this fascinating sight should time their visit around noon to observe this phenomenon. The cave is also known as the Kwangdaekoji and the process is also sometimes called 'Talgrian'.

How to Get to Udo
Inter-city Bus: it will take you an hour and 5 minutes by express bus from the Jeju Bus Terminal to Seongsan. Buses run in the frequency of 20 minutes. The local bus leaves every 25 minutes.
Ferry: It takes 15 minutes from Seongsanpo to U-do by ferry. The ferry leaves every hour.
