There are two airports in Seoul. Gimpo International Airport was previously located at Gimpo. However in 1963, this airport was annexed to Seoul. During the Korean War, this airport served as one of the gateways linking Korea to outside world. This airport now, with the exception of international flights heading for Tokyo's Haneda Airport, mainly handles domestic flights.

If you want to get to Seoul by Air, you would most probably land in Incheon International Airport. Opened in 2001, this airport in fact now receives most of the international flights. However some domestic flights take off and land as well. The airport is equipped with state-of-the-art landing and takes off facilities. With easier night time landing and other facilities, the airport was recently voted by IATA as the world's best airport in parameters of service and quality.

Both the airports are connected to the city by a freeway. A rail line which would connect Incheon and Gimpo airports to Seoul is currently under construction.
