The Caripén bistro is located in a historically important district in Madrid near the Royal Opera House and the Spanish Senate. The restaurant was earlier the seat of a famous flamenco club. The renowned El Tablao was the flamenco club run by Lola Flores who was a very well known Spanish dancer.

The club used to have a beautiful Art Deco décor which ahs been restored. However the Caripén restaurant does not provide any flamenco performances anymore. The lack of flamenco should not deter you as in its place you will experience the sublime tastes of Daniel Boute's French bistro cookery.

The Caripén restaurant is one of the favorite haunts of the gatos or the Madrid residents. The word gato means cat and Spanish locals and Madrilènos are called gatos as they roam about till late at night. This restaurant is open till3am in the morning and this is also one of the reasons why the restaurant is so popular with the locals.

One of the dishes that you just cannot afford to miss at the Caripén restaurant in Madrid is the mejillones de roca. The mejillones de roca ids a lovely preparation of mussels in white wine and cream sauce. You can also try the perfectly prepared steak tartare which is cooked to perfection. The foie with setas is sublime preparation of duck liver and mushrooms that will make your taste buds come alive. Another must have is the skate in black butter. And believe us when we say that the food tastes even better than it sounds.
For desserts you can have your choice of tiramisu, freshly made fruit tarts, or crepes.
