It offers a modern layout that has been able to maintain all the flavour of La Mancha. It is now chief town of its province. Ciudad Real, lies between the rivers Guadiana and Jabalon. It is bordered by the provinces of Cuenca, Albacete, Jaén, Córdoba, Badajoz, and Toledo.
The place is also well known because it is also the home of Don Quixote, the “Knight of the rueful contanance”.
Ciudad Real has a population of 51,000 and it is situated at an altitude of 632m/2074ft. The city is positioned at 38?59’ N and 3?55’ W.
The place is better communicated due to the Madrid-Seville high speed train, this city offers us exceptional cuisine centred on cheese and wine.
The town of Ciudad Real was founded Alfonso X in 1255. Alfonso X established the fortress of Villareal on the site of the town of Alrcos, which had been destroyed by the Moors. In 1420, during the reign of John II, the place was chartered as a town and given its present name. The aim of the founding of Ciudad Real was to establish a center of power which was located in the territories dominated by the Order of Calatrava.

Church of Santiago is a temple is situated in the old city and dates back to the 13th century. It features 3 ships and a romanica window. The church also features a statue of the Virgin and a boy which dates back to the 13th century.
Cathedral of Santa Maria of the Prado is a cathedral was originally built in 1531 on the grounds of a previous temple. The cathedral features a magnificent altar piece which was designed and created by Giraldo de Mer.
The Provincial Museum was erected during the 19th century and is home to a magnificent collection of artworks done by the most important Manchegos artists.
