Lantejuela Natural Reserve in Seville
Lantejuela Natural Reserve in Seville is located to the east of Seville. This is a wetland reserve consisting of two saltwater lakes # Laguna de Calderón and Laguna de la Lantejuela. Until the mid-1960s, this wetland area covered an area of 300 km² expanding between Écija and Osuna. Today, only a very insignificant section of the original area remains including the 956ha of the Lantejuela reserve. Unfortunately, most of the area has been dried up due to the agricultural demands on the land. Although in a small way, but, efforts are being made to compensate for the loss by creating this reserve and restoring the Laguna de Ruiz Sánchez to the northeast.
