Cloud Gate Dance Theatre Taiwan

The Cloud Gate Dance Theatre was established by Lin Huai-min in the year 1973. This is a group of modern dancers and in the later days, the owner had shared Cloud Gate Dance Theatre with Lo Man-fei.

The performances of the dancers are based on modern ground but are related to mythology of Asia as well as folklore and aesthetics. The different forms practiced by the dances are tai chi, martial arts, meditation, popular ballet and of course modern dance. This Theatre has given various performances in Europe, Northern America, South America and Asia as well.

The Cloud Gate Dance Theatre is popular all over Taiwan and is considered as one of the greatest dance organizations in Taiwan. 21st August 2003 was a great day for this theatre as the government had declared it as the Cloud Gate Day. The street where now the office of the theatre lies was named as Cloud Gate Street. This was the first time in the history of Taiwan that a date and a place were named after some organization.

The Cloud Gate Dance Theatre is divided into two branches other than the original one. One of them is Cloud Gate 2 that was started in 1999 and which works to develop new and young dancers along with choreographers. The other one is Cloud Gate Dance School that was founded in 1998 and aimed at giving education on dance throughout.
