Wulai Aboriginal Village Taiwan
A mountain village in northern Taiwan, Wulai is a reservation area for Tai Ya tribe, the aboriginal people. Known for immensely beautiful sceneries, Wulai Aboriginal Village is a famous tourist destination. It lies at the point where Nanshi Creek converges with Tunho Creek. Occupying a total area of 15.6%, Wulai is the largest town of the Taipei county.‘Wulai’ in the local dialect means hot springs. Wulai Aboriginal Village is known for its numerous hot springs. Known for their great medicinal values, hot springs here are clear and odorless.
Also located in the Village is a famous Wulai Waterfall, which is about 80 meters high. The white stream of water cascades down in an unceasing flow, as if suspended by some act of sorcery.
There is an aboriginal culture center is a museum which is a replication of aboriginal folk art. Apart from historical artifacts, the museum regularly features songs and dances by aboriginal people. The streets in Wulai Aboriginal Village are laden with displays of authentic handicrafts, some of which are deer-horn necklaces and bags or bracelets of Atayal fabric.
To make the tour a convenient one, there are provisions for push cars. These cars were originally used for the transfer of lumber but they are now used for sight seeing purposes.
