Krabi, the small capital town of Krabi province is situated upriver from the coast where tourists from different parts of the globe make a beeline. Krabi covers an area of 4,707 square kilometers and is located some 814 kilometers south of Bangkok. Krabi International Airport is conveniently located at a distance of about 10 kilometers from the city limits, 15 kilometers from the city centre, and 40 kilometers from Ao Nang. The Thai Airways is one of the major carriers operating in Krabi Airport. There are direct flights plying daily to and from Bangkok. Air Asia is another carrier running similar flights. The Tiger Airways also flies directly to and from Singapore nearly every day of the week and to and from Darwin on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and also on Saturdays.

The international departure tax surcharge in Krabi International Airport is around 500 baht while domestic departure tax is included in the cost of the flight. The Deputy Transport Minister officially inaugurated a new four-floor domestic-passenger terminal at Krabi International Airport recently. This domestic terminal in Krabi has been built for domestic passengers and offers a number of facilities like restaurants, banks, taxi services and car rental offices. It has an area of 10,593 square meters and a maximum capacity of 1,200 passengers.

The opening of the Krabi International Airport is an achievement in itself, as it has made Krabi easily accessible by the tourists across the globe.
