The Institute of Marine Science Aquarium and Museum is one of the well known points of sightseeing in Chonburi. It is also referred to as the Bangsaen Institute of Marine Science (BIMS). The main goal of the museum is to provide an insight into the marine life and provide a learning experience.

The Institute of Marine Science Aquarium and Museum is affiliated with the Burapha University and is located near the Bangsaen Beach. The Bangsaen Institute consists of cutting edge research facilities and services. It showcases and exhibits the marine environment and focuses on the different aquatic species. The museum is divided into three parts: Marine Aquarium, Marine Science Museum and Marine Science Laboratories.

Research is done on a wide species of marine and aquatic organisms in the Institute of Marine Science Aquarium and Museum. The aquarium was originally funded by a grant from the Japanese government in the year 1982. It consists of a large collection of fish, crustaceans and marine vegetation, most of which are native to Thailand. Both the aquarium and museum remains open from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm from Tuesday to Friday and on public holidays. Admission fee is only 20 baht. The Museum remains closed on Mondays.
