Phuket Ferry Service

Introduction

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and is the most popular one. It will be easy for you to travel around Phuket if you know the directions, road maps and fares. You can find buses, taxis, tuk tuks etc for transportation in Phuket. The crystal waters of the Andaman Seas that surround Phuket, draws thousands of tourists to this island. A boat trip on these waters is irresistible. The Phuket Ferry Service takes tourists on short rides and sightseeing trips to adjacent islands.

Phuket Ferry Service

The Phuket ferry service is served by longtail boats. These boats found almost at every seafront in Thailand are a slightly improved version of the older rustic boats used by local fishermen. The modern version includes a motor mounted at the back of the boats to give it a bit of an uptown look and speed.

You can hire boats from Chalong Pier and Rawai. The fares are dependent on type of vessel, distance, number of passengers etc. The longtail boats are cheaper than speedboats.

A ride on one of these boats can be a thrilling experience. Rental prices for ferry service in Phuket averages around 500 baht per hour for short trips and up to 2000 baht for an entire day. However safety measures on these boats are not adequate and it is not advisable to get on one with non-swimmers or children.
