Doi Suthep Chiang Mai

Doi Suthep Chiang Mai

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a temple in Chiang Mai province on the Doi Suthep Mountain, part of Doi Suthep - Doi Pui National Park. The temple is set amidst the Mae Ping Valley. According to a popular folklore, this site was chosen by a white elephant who was allowed to roam freely. When it reached this particular spot, it trumpeted and circled around this place thrice, then kneeled down and died indicating the site for the temple.
