Visakha Puja Day
Visakha Puja day goes on to celebrate three important incidents in the life of Lord Buddha on the same day that is the full moon day of the sixth lunar month. The three events are as follows:The Buddha's birth -This is important as he was born into the royal family and was later named as Siddhartha.
The Enlightenment of Buddha
The Nibbana- This is actually meant to commemorate the death of the Lord Buddha.
Visakha Puja Day is hailed as the most important event in the calendar of the Buddhists. This day is also hailed as the World Heritage Day in Thailand and was recognized by UNESCO in 1999. Every year when this day comes around Buddhists all over the world gather to perform the rites and rituals and also pay homage to the knowledge and wisdom of Lord Buddha. There are some special events held like Tum Boon, Rub Sil, Tuk Bard, Vien Tien and many more.
The Visakha Puja Day is very special for all Buddhists. These events go on to see Candle light Procession in the evening of the Vesak full moon day, practice of renunciation, meditation and mental discipline, Tuk Bard sees offering of food to the monks in special begging bowls, going to temples and listening to some preachings and giving donations to the needy
