Golfing is fast becoming popular in Vietnam and if you want to tee off instead of dragging your feet through museums or shopping plazas, then straight head for Vietnam Golf And Country Club, Ho Chi Minh City. This verdant and extraordinarily beautiful golf course is the country’s first international 36 hole golf club. Further the location of this golf club, just 20 km from the city center, makes it the nearest golf course to Ho Chi Minh. Vietnam Golf and Country Club was inaugurated in 1994 or rather the West Course was opened for play in 1994. It has been designed by the renowned Taiwanese architect, Chen King Shih.

The golf course is set amongst three hundred hectares of land. The area was woodland before the golf courses were designed, but eye has been given to the fact that minimal land movement would not disturb the general ambience of soft lushness. It is very natural, that makes the whole course so special! Since its inauguration, a few major golfing tournaments have been held here like Vietnam Open (Asian PGA Tour Event), in 1995 and 1997. the course has several trees which throw a challenge to the golfer to make the perfect shot. The East course opened in 1997 in the month of September. It is difficult to say which course is more beautiful, the West course or the East course.
