Beaches of Vung Tau Ho Chi Minh City

Vung Tau is a popular beach resort near Ho Chi Minh City. This beach resort on the South China Sea Coast is very popular as it is quiet close to the main city and is yet removed from its hustle and bustle. This district is approximately a 120 km drive away from the city and it takes anything between two and one and a half hour to get to Vung Tao. If you go via hydrofoil then it will take you an hour and a quarter to get to this beach town. The Vina and Petro Express hydrofoils depart and return to the city every couple of hours and cost about USD10.

Vung Tau is an ideal town to go partying as it is full of sun, sand, surf, good food, beer and boats of a few nightclubs too. The nightlife is pretty active in the Back Beach and the Mulberry beach is a rockier beach that is quite ideal for soul searching. You could also visit the nearby lighthouse and the Giant Jesus.

Jesus Hill is located near the middle of this town. It is actually a hill with an enormous statue of Jesus at the top of the hill. This statue is visible from the rest of the town as it stands very tall at 32 meters. A long winding narrow staircase leads up to the top but the breathtaking view from the secret windows (just beneath the arms of the statue) is worth all the effort.

Other places worth seeing in this town are the Whale Temple and the Goddess of mercy or the Guan Yin Temple.
