Pham Ngu Lao Street is the haunt of Backpackers in Ho Chi Minh City as this street boasts of many budget hotels. The name Pham Ngu Lao is in reference to an oblong shaped area that is bordered by Pham Ngu Lao to the north and Bui Vien to the south. The street that represents this area is called Pham Ngu Lao Street and it has more than twenty budget and midrange groups. Though this area is a little on the dingy side and gets a fair bit of traffic noise, it is very popular with operated tour groups.
Right in the middle of Pham Ngu Lao district is the De Tham Street which is full of bars, restaurants and travel agencies. This are a comparatively quieter as the sound of traffic snarl sis less common here.
Another favorite haunt of backpackers is the Bui Vien Street that runs parallel Pham Ngu Lao Street. A lot of the budget hotel here have six to seven floors but do not have elevators.
A street with 30 mini hotels called Mini Hotel Alley runs parallel to De Tham Street is a lesser known haunt. This place is quieter and has hotels of better quality.
If you do not have deep pockets and are looking for cheaper places to stay in then Pham Ngu Lao Street is just right for you.
