Getting to Ho Chi Minh City by Air

Tan Son Nhat international airport, located 7 km away from the heart of the city towards its northwestern part, is the main gateway for flights arriving from the rest of the world. It is largest among all the three international airports in Vietnam. It is the busiest airport of the country as well, receiving more international flights than that of Hanoi.
The city is well connected with 18 cities in Asia and Europe through the regular flights of twenty-two airlines. To meet the needs of increasing number of air traffics, the Tan Son Nhat international airport has recently been extended.

Airlines: Vietnam Airlines, being the national airline of Vietnam, has been the major player in domestic air routes. The flights of Pacific Airlines are operational between Saigon and Hanoi & Saigon and Danang. It also operates few international flights. Other major Airlines, which operate flights from Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City, are Air France, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa and Thai Airways.
However the No. 152 air-con airport bus, the latest addition to this list, has been the cheapest way to get into the city.

Flight Time: From London it takes around 15 hours 15 minutes to reach Ho Chi Minh City. From New York the time span is 20 hours 20 minutes. From Los Angeles the air route to Ho Chi Minh City takes 18 hours 40 minutes. From Toronto the journey takes around 21 hours 50 minutes. From Sydney the flight time is just 9 hours 5 minutes.


The city offers no bus or train service from the airport into the city. Metered taxis from the airport will take you to the heart of the city in 30 minutes.
