Al Diar Oryx Hotel, Abu Dhabi  

The Oryx looked great on the internet, the location was great and the value seemed great. In reality, the room was freezing and the shower leaked. We asked over and over to have the air turned down and all the service people could do was bring us a portable heater for our bedroom. The hot water in the shower didn't come on the first day and the water leaked out of the shower door - water was every where! Our in-room safe wouldn't work - the technician was there for 20 mins and had to leave to get a new battery. Thankfully my relatives were in the room next door and we were able to use their safe. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was delicious and elegantly served! Loved it! The amount of space in the room was appreciated, but having 4 of us was tight in the bedroom. The roll-away was helpful. The front desk weren't overly helpful when we announced our need to switch hotels, but in the end we were able to leave early without a charge. There was no computer & free wi-fi - we had to pay $18 AED for a half an hour of usage, Down in the lobby! Ugh! Very frustrating!
