utter disappoinment
Arrived at the hotel at 4am. received well by staff. was informed of an upgrade to a 2 bedroomed apartment. Asked to settle bill which I said I'd do a little later as I wished to settle by cash - had to exchange currency. This didn't stir a problem as long as my passports were left at the reception.Escorted with luggage by a very polite man to room. My husband was shocked using the bathroom as the toilet hose was broken, towel was torn and very coarse (sand paper). We were so tired due to the delays at the airport. I decided to load the machine with our soiled clothes, so as not to waste time in the morning- would be washed when we awoke - the machine had no handle to open. The same man came back, assisted me - loaded and switched on.. walala machine doesn't work. He promised that the maintenance team would be in after 9am. My 10 year old refused to sleep in the adjoining room due to the condition of the bedding...this was clearly too old- the sheets were drab, creased and stained. We all retired for the night hoping to have a restful sleep but impossible on such hard, high pillows. I approached the reception at 9am with my grievances. I was informed that there was a late checkout and that someone had used the wrong linen- this would be changed by housekeeping. We proceeded to breakfast, which was okay. Utensils, etc were not very clean and neither was the table. Unimpressed with the mannerisms of the staff. She seemed to be not to friendly. Then there was this quibble between the chef and her. We met fellow South Africans who also said that the hotel was not up to standard..they were on transit and moving on to Saudi. We informed the reception of our intention to check out of this hotel. She went in , spoke to her manager, came back offering us another room. We declined, she went back in to confirm that this was okay. Walked around..found excellent and cheaper accommodation. Made payment of 360Dirhams-not worth it. Disgusted that manager absent
