Hotel Description
This 17th century coaching inn which was mentioned in the Novel 'Northanger Abbey' by Jane Austen after she visited the house during her childhood, was built on the site of a 12th century priory (which was destroyed by Henry the VIII) to provide rest to travellers on the Bath-Gloucester route and was extended in the Georgian period to its present state. In more recent times it has undergone an extensive makeover to 'ensure that the property's unique character is complimented by the conveniance and reliability of modern amenities'.On 3 Acres of land with amazing landscaped gardens, guests can enjoy a quiet drink or go al fresco and enjoy meals in the garden or simply take a long stroll around the Water Garden, perfectly situated to the east of the main house to catch the sun, the water garden is also illuminated at night to enhance the colours.Average hotel rating
