Summary
Laganside, Belfast, was once a busy port whose great warehouses were built by eminent Victorian architects. Spearheaded by the Waterfront Hall and Odyssey, the area has been brought alive with restaurants, bistros, bars, boutiques and galleries.
The McCausland Hotel, originally built as two warehouses in 1867, is an integral part of this renaissance. The hotel represents excellence in design and imagination. The doors opened in late 1998 to reveal a luxury hotel of 60 rooms provided with every facility to launch it into world class exclusivity. The original cast iron pillars have been retained throughout the hotel, providing a rich atmospheric setting for a relaxing drink in Cafe Marco Polo and evening dining in Merchants Restaurant. The comfortable rooms have, data points, entertainment centres with television and stereos. A number of the rooms have been specially designed with facilities for wheelchair-users.
