The Elk's Head is a comfortable & welcoming Country Inn in the heart of the North Pennines close to Hadrian's Wall & Hexham. Also ideally located for Hexham Racecourse & Allendale's famous New Year's Eve celebrations. Only an hour from the Scottish Borders and the Lake District this is an ideal base to explore the local area.

Our 10 bedrooms have been recently refurbished in 2010 with sparkling new en-suite facilities, some with Riverside views. The surrounding area offers some beautiful scenery, offering some great walks and cycle routes. Also in 2010 a new 50 seater Riverside restaurant was built on the side of the bar area adding to the enjoyment of the excellent food using the finest local produce and game when in season. Meals are served 12-3pm lunchtimes and 6-9pm evenings complemented by a fine wine list & up to 2 local real ales. read more
