Rock n Reef sold us on their fantastic website, however they failed to mention the 150 steep steps down from the road it takes to get there. The spot is beautiful, but unfortunately the hotel dramatically lacks guidance. On our first day our room was never cleaned. When we asked where to put our rubbish we were told to bring it into the kitchen. The staff was constantly haggling us for money via massages, which became rather annoying. The owners were pleasant, but they had no control over their staff and did little to make guests feel like you were on holiday. When asking what would be served for dinner, we were constantly told whatever you want. That's great to some extent, but a little guidance would be appreciated. The hotel has great potential as it is on a beautiful spot, but travellers with families should avoid this spot. As the stairs do put a damper on leaving the hotel easily, you are stuck with no pool and limited access to the coraled beach, where you have to wait for low tide to swim. However, if you are a surfer, the beach is the best in Bali. It is a pity that the owners care so little about this place as it could be quite amazing. The owners have gone surfing...literally!
