The first thing which I noticed even...
The first thing which I noticed even before entering the hotel was that the windows were dirty. That immediately rang warning bells. On entering the reception we were confronted with a vision of disarray - all the built in seating area had been removed leaving just wooden framework - this was more than 50% of the reception seating - it looked appalling.
We announced our arrival at the reception where a woman was sitting. She said we would have to wait a few minutes because she wasn't working!
We went to move the car to the rear of the hotel and returned with our luggage.
There was a second woman at reception. Evidently our room wasn't ready so they gave us the keys to one which was.
We went up to the second floor and opened the door to our room. It was not inviting. The overall feeling was old and tired, the kitchen looked old and smelt greasy. I went back down to reception and said we were not happy with the room. A man was also there this time who appeared to be the owner. He asked why and I told him we were really disappointed with the overall standard of the room.
He said they had delux rooms which were more modern. I asked if we could 'upgrade'. He found us a room, for which we had to pay extra. The room was much more modern, however still not to an acceptable standard. Stains of something running down the walls, no lightshade, one bulb not working, dirty, stained carpet and no tea or coffee supplies as you would certainly expect in a 4 star rated hotel. The shower cubicle grouting was mouldy and black.
A terrible experience, I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again. The staff were not friendly and I felt uncomfortable complaining. It is the first time I have ever complained about a hotel.
