Moorlands Country House, designated non-smoking, is situated below Haytor Rocks, one of the best known landmarks of the Dartmoor National Park. Its setting, on the wild open spaces of Dartmoor, was the inspiration for Agatha Christie’s first book, The Mysterious Affair at Styles. The 32 bedrooms look out over the rolling Devon countryside and the eight acres of ground where guests can also enjoy a game of croquet. The bedrooms are equipped with a hairdryer, clock radio and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. Televisions are provided in the bedrooms.

Guests can relax in the lounge with its bar or play table tennis in the games room.

Meals are served in an informal, friendly atmosphere at tables for up to 10 guests. A three-course dinner is served at 7 to 7.30pm. A choice of full English or continental breakfast is offered. To allow you to make the most of your touring or walking holiday, a self-select picnic lunch is provided.

Free car parking is available. Please notify the Country House in advance if you intend to arrive after 10.30pm. Bedrooms are available from 2.30pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure.

With its stunning location, Moorlands is an excellent base for those on an activity or walking holiday. Other nearby attractions include Cothele House, Castle Drogo and Buckfast Abbey.
