White Horse Hotel, Rottingdean

Hotel Description

Dramatically located on the cliffs, the White Horse Hotel has spectacular views over the sea. It is located on the edge of the South Downs just three miles from Brighton.

During the 18th and 19th centuries, Rottingdean was a smugglers' village - a time recalled by Rudyard Kipling's "A Smuggler's Song": "If you wake at midnight, and hear horses' feet, Don't go drawing back the blind, or looking in the street... Five and twenty ponies, trotting through the dark - Brandy for the Parson, Baccy for the Clerk." Nowadays the nearest we come to smuggling is snuggling in our sumptuous accommodation.

The attractive bar and restaurant have sea views and offer an interesting and extensive menu. With its decked patio and terrace, it is an ideal location for a break by the sea.

The 19 refurbished bedrooms all offer en-suite facilities. There are 2 suites, one with a Four-poster bed and the other with a Sleigh bed, 6 Feature bedrooms, having sea views and balconies. In addition to the 10 Standard bedrooms there is a newly added Family room.

The Windmill Suite now provides conference and meeting facilities for up to 60 delegates. Private functions and celebrations can also be catered for, for up to 100 guests.

Well served by the M25, M23 (Gatwick) and A27, the White Horse Hotel is conveniently placed for all that Brighton has to offer, including the famous 'Lanes', the Palace Pier and the Marina.
