The Empress was entirly perfect and after having a good look around Dalat, there is no better place to stay. The position and the staff were simply the best and I'm pretty fussy. Just book and enjoy.

Loved the Empress Hotel. The room, the bathroom with tile floored shower, the two terraces with views of the lake, the sitting nook on the open second floor hallway...just perfect for postcard writing. The staff was fantastic, the restaurant charming - though the food was just average. Oh, the spring rolls were great. Good location within easy walking distance of market. Really made our stay in Dalat.

Stayed 4 nights in Empress Hotel during February 2005. Rooms are nice with good views. Room rates are reasonable, but Internet and dining rates were extremely high. Service was fair. Food at the restaurant and for room service was very dissapointing. Some of the worst food I experienced in Vietnam.

The hotel is conveniently located in walking distance to the market/ shopping/ restaurant area in Dalat. Sitting on the hotel's sunny, spacious terrace you overlook the city's lake. To enjoy this view, especially around sunset, it is essential you bring mosquito repellent. All over Dalat are many of these little insects and we could not find anything in the shops to shy them away.

The hotel is located in a nice location, facing the famous lake of Dalat. It provides a good access to restaurants where you can get good Vietnamese dishes with reasonable prices. Restaurants and coffee shops are in walking distances. The hotel is relatively small but its environment is cozy, creating warm feelings. Couples with no children probably will enjoy more. Its staff is very friendly and polite; however, its facilities are limited. I would recommend rooms facing the lake.
