The location of this hotel must give it, its 4* rating because everything else apart from the breakfast is only of 2* quality. The standard rooms are in a block which is reminiscent of a butlins holiday camp. Only Butlins is better. The breakfasts where very good and so was the beach but everything else you have to pay for, which was rather disappointing. Other 4* hotels I stayed in, in Vietnam had lots of activities for free for their paying guests. Overall the location of this hotel is fantastic but it lets itself down badly with its accommodation.

I stayed in Sandy Beach from 5th Aug'09 - 9th Aug'09. The resort is about 20 mins by cab from DaNang Airport. The cab fare cost US$7-8 (Go by meter). Sandy Beach is located in a quiet & undisturbed beach area, where you are guaranteed to have peace & space to swim/walk on the beach. Room was clean, big & neatly maintained. 2 thumbs up for housekeeping =) Facilities wise, there are 2 swimming pools & a jacuzzi but unfortunately they seem to close early! I wanted to swim at 8pm and was told I could not even though it states that pool closes at 10pm. The hotel restaurant is a bit pricey, expect to pay about US$4 for salad & US$10 onwards for main course. Food choice is limited since there is only 1 restaurant but you can always eat in Da Nang city or in Hoi An (10-15 mins away by shuttle bus).
ONE IMPT THING - the free hotel shuttle to Hoi An is completely painful with timing. The return shuttle to hotel is at 5pm, and we were 2 mins late & we saw the bus turn the corner abt 500m away. This means they leave b4 5pm so take note of this! If you happen to miss the bus, don't panic, just have a nice + cheap dinner in Hoi An & get a taxi back it's even cheaper than eating at hotel anyway!
Front desk service is not great & they don't seem to be able to understand much English. Staff are not friendly & they don't seem to be happy to assist you if you want to visit other areas. They insist on you taking the hotel tours which are 2x-3x more than if u just book a taxi the whole day! They are also reluctant to help you if u want to book their hotel car the whole day! There is one staff though, I believe his name is Mr Duang (or David as we call him) who is by far the most outstanding staff there! He knows his stuff, is friendly, helpful & able to articulate well!! Sure wish others would learn from him!
All in all, Sandy Beach has good location and scenery (beach is spectacular) and is reasonably priced. Beds are hard but heck room is clean so that's a fair trade ;) Breakfast is not too bad, a good mix of chinese & western food. It's too bad the staff's attitude could not be better!

RECEPTION service is quite appalling. Most of the other reviews are correct on this note- so we were expecting this on arrival. They are not friendly, nor are the desk staff warm mannered. So beware of this! Bell boys/and pool staff were lovely and friendly though.
Our room that we booked was supposed to be superior ocean view. But it was definately not. Overlooked a tin roof below, and barely saw the sand dunes over the trees. We asked to be upgraded to a bungalow right next to the beach (we paid for upgrade). The bungalow was well worth the extra cost to be next to the beach. Stunning beach/pool views. Amazing private beach.

We, my husband and myself, had a very wonderful stay at Danang Sandy Beach, staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, service was very good.The room that we had is very spacious and clean. The buffet spread for breakfast was average but overall it was ok. I would definitely recommend this hotel for honeymooners, it's very peaceful and quiet, perfect for a romantic holiday.

Probably a bit overpriced but a lovely hotel. A fair way from the main centre of Danang so if you want to be in the thick of it maybe rethink this place. If you are after somewhere away from the hustle and bustle this place will suit well. Staff were lovely and the breakfast buffet had a great range of asian and western food.

the room is reasonably large in premium standard. waiters and waitresses at alamanda are very friendly. everything in hotel is good except two things: 1) the in-room internet wifi has poor signal 2. the gym facility should be located in a proper room.

Partically Shuttle bus services, i'm not at all happy. Let me state my reasons and real encounter i badly experience. I was shuttled from Sandy Beach to Hoa Ann on Wed with my wife, and i remembered clearly the driver mentioned that the pick up service is at 5pm. FYI we were the only couple in the bus.
Come 5pm, we were late for 7 mins to be exact(5.07pm), and obviously the bus was not around. My question here is why should the driver leave not even picking up a single soul back to the hotel? (Moreover we are the only couple from the hotel to Hoa Ann) FYI, we got lost trying to find the pick up point.
I personally was piss off even more because when we were back to the pick up point, we saw two other shuttle buses if i'm not wrong Furama hotel and some other resort name starting with "S" here and they were waiting for their hotel customers even after 5.30pm!
Learnings: No choice we then had our dinner there but we realised that eating at the restaurants at Hoa Ann is not only cheaper and a wider variety of choices, we even had enough to hire a cab back to the hotel. Therefore if the hotel had realised we stop spending money eating in the hotel from that day onwards besides a couple of beers. Believe me the hotel is losing sales or even more revenue. Worst I may not consider coming back!

Reception staff are great.Better shuttle bus service,more frequent needs to be provided.Rooms need to be cleaned up.Very damp,windows leak.Beds are very basic.Clean towels & linen services where great.TV reception not so good.Internet service was pretty good.Food was average,but my husband unfortunately got a stomach bug.The nurse needs better english skills,could be quite dangerous,she did try though.
