Vietnamese charm in a seaside setting
We stayed at the SunSea Hotel in Da Nang for a two night break from all the travelling. It was a charming hotel and room - clean, friendly, nicely decorated, decent beds, and set back from the busy main beach road so it was also quiet. The room itself was large and airy (we opted for the next grade up from the basic room) and the communal parts smart and clean. The staff spoke enough English - certainly more than our two words of Vietnamese and between us we could always communicate more than adequately - and they were truly friendly and always willing to help. The location of the hotel was ideal - we hired deckchairs on the beach and just sat, swam and relaxed. In the evening, rather than bother finding somewhere to eat, we sat down in the restaurant and they cooked us fresh Vietnamese meals - truly delicious and again cheap. I am now sitting in a boutique hotel in Ha Noi but wishing we had stayed at the SunSea for a few more days. It reminded me of staying on a Greek island and whilst it was the lowest star of the hotels we have stayed in on our 3 week trip, it was by far my favourite. Need I say more!
