Anise Hotel is quite new, and its rooms and other facilities reflect this. It's at the northern end of the old quarter, but within walking distance of all main areas. It's close to West Lake and the small Truc Bach lake, which are less frequented by tourists but have their own character, as well as restaurants and cafes around the shores. Well worth a walk aound the area. Anise also has a good restaurant, although somewhat sterile in character. They do some Vietnamese specialities very well, includin pho for breakfast, if you ask. Staff are very helpful, there is a small gym with modern equipment and wireless internet at no extra cost. Anise may be a little more expensive than some other hotels, but it offers clean, bright rooms and public areas, and is free from touts etc hanging around the front door.
