Melia is a fine hotel but it lacks activity/entertainment. We've to travel to other hotels for entertainment.
However, there was a most terrible hiccups while we're staying there. We've ask the hotel to add an extra bed on the 3rd day (3rd July 2005)of our stay as one of my friend decided to stay over our room for the night as we need to wake up early to Halong Bay next morning. So we specifically instructed the hotel's staff to get ready the bed by the time we get back from our shopping. To our disgust, returning from the shopping that night, we found that the extra bed was not set up! Curiously we called the conceige and the explanation given was that they forgot about the specific instruction! Returning from a tired shopping spree, the last thing we wanted to do was to catch a nice nap for the next long distance travel to Halong Bay. Alas, our intended earlier notification was somewhat forgotten in a 5-star rated hotel! We were disappointed again
The final straw was when we took a taxi from the hotel to an eatery restaurant. The male staff at the entrance to the hotel had given the wrong instruction to the taxi driver even though we showed him the address of the eatery we wanted to go!
We think that these incidents had greatly affected the hotel's reputation.
