Truly Decadent!
A truly amazing and luxurious hotel. It is a complete treat. The hotel is beautiful, grand and majestic. It really added to the experience of being in hanoi and seeing the 'colonial' way of life. There is a lovely french restaurant, vietnamese and italian. We ate in the French restaurant. They had a vegetarian menu in both the french and vietnamese restaurant which was great. The vietnamese restaurant had really big portions so definitely under order. The Italian restaurant really stank of smoke which put us off eating there. The hotel was beautifully lit and the pool was outdoors but heated. The location is excellent with only a 10-15 minute walk around the lake to the old quarter. It is only 3-4 minutes to the Lake.

Lovely old Hanoi hotel. Th only downside is they insist on showing all prices in local currency and then when you come to pay convert o US Dollars.

We spent a wonderful romantic weekend in...
We spent a wonderful romantic weekend in Hanoi and the Metropole Hanoi was certainly part of it. It is perfectly located in the city center, very near to the French Quarter and all the "must Sees" of the city. The service was outstanding, the Vietnamese restaurant very good. We ended up spending more time in the hotel than we had planned, just because it's such a wonderful place. A little oasis in the middle of a very busy city. It wasn't cheap, but definitely worth the money. I would highly recommend it to couples looking for a romantic getaway!

The Sofitel Metropole was without a doubt...
The Sofitel Metropole was without a doubt the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The room was fabulous and the service was impeccable -they anticipate your every need. If I could live there, I would! We stayed there for our first wedding anniversary and they gave me flowers and put chocolate and rose petals on the bed.

We stayed in the old section of...
We stayed in the old section of this marvelous hotel and it was excellent. The renovation of this wonderful old French style building has been undertaken in a sympathetic but modern way to ensure the hotel keeps pace with todays market expectations. The food was excellent as was the service, particularly around the pool. There was a range of food types with particular emphasis of the local cuisine. We participated in a hotel run cooking class and had a marvelous day going to a local market, spending 2 hours with an instructing chef and then a further 2 hours over an extended lunch - all very good value and recommended. We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone seeking a sophisticated and quality hotel experience in this wonderful city.

The hotel and the room were a...
The hotel and the room were a joy - the staff were so helpful and the restaurants were excellent - the swimming pool could have been a little bigger or a separate one provided for children - apart from that excellent and shall be back asap.

Good Location, within easy walking distance to the lake. The BEST service staff (from front desk to housekeeping) I have encountered in Vietnam. Rooms in the metropole (older) wing are a bit small, but they are beautifully put together in the classic french-vietnamese style.
