Bad stay at Sofitel Plaza
We booked 3 hotels in Vietnam, this one was the most expensive and the most disappointing. The hotel was pretty far out, which wasn't a problem as it cost only £1 (when the taxi drivers weren't trying to rip you off) to get into the main centre. We arrived and I didn't feel confident that the receptionist was giving us the room we had paid for, just had a feeling, i questioned it a couple of times and was told us this is correct, we got to the room - very small, none of the extra's that we paid for and were part of our package were in the room. So I went down to reception and said they were missing, was advised they would be corrected. My partner then had a shower, the temperature gauge came off in his hand, then when he went to hang his towel up after his shower it fell off and the shower was rubbish! The room was small and 'old' looking.
So I went back down to reception and just asked to speak to the manager, he came and I explained, he said could we go back and pack and leave the bags in the room and he would move us to a better room. Which he did, this one was better and what I expected. The 2nd to last day we had alot of banging above us, this was ok as it was late afternoon, but it wasn't ok when that banging and drilling started again at 8:30am! So another visit to reception, where they told us they couldn't do anything apart from move us to another room (we were due to check out at mid day) or we could go out now and they would give us a late check out - this worked better for us as our flight wasn't till that evening.
There was alot of inconvenience in this hotel. It had no personal touch and it was a bit of a bad ending to a superb holiday!
