Comfortable, functional hotel, but with no charm....
Comfortable, functional hotel, but with no charm. Beds were comfortable, and room was clean and bright. Shower was excellent! Breakfast was good, but served at long cafeteria style tables to seat 20+ people. This hotel appears to cater mainly to the bus-tour groups. It was a good hotel, very centrally located, and yet no disturbance from traffic noise at night. However, I would choose the Hong Ngoc 1 where we also spent 2 nights over the Thien Thai. The Hong Ngoc is cheaper, has more charm and ambience, and is equally comfortable.

Stayed here for 10 nights in June...
Stayed here for 10 nights in June 2005 on my first trip to Vietnam. The hotel is about a 5 min walk from the main market and about 15 mins from the Lake. Hotel was clean and well run and the hotel staff were polite and helpful and spoke excellent English (and French). The air-conditioning was efficient and much appreciated after walking around Hanoi in 35C / 95F temperatures and humidity to match! If I had to criticize one thing, the restaurant was expensive by local standards and the menu choice was not extensive. That said, I have no hesitation to recommend the Thien Thai and I will hopefully stay there again one day.

Very nice , very clean room. The plumbing gurgled a bit and it was a little smelly at times(not too bad, though). I had to be around the Hou keim(?) lake , so it was abit of a hike. I was very happy with the service and my expectations were met. Your description was accurate. Thank you

Over all Hotel & Staff is OK...
Over all Hotel & Staff is OK toilet is ok but basin in toilet so old. I lived there for 3 nights Breakfast is the same everyday. The door of rooms are manual lock pls don't forget to lock when u come inside the room because the door is not automatic lock. I think room it's to small but overall it's ok. It is ok if u want to pay for this hotel. But near by this Hotel have the new one that we called "Flower Hotel" if I have chance back to Vietnam I will try to stay Flower Hotel my friend recomended Flower Hotel Better quility but cheaper than ThienThai.

Great place, clean, friendly staff. Location was great. There are many hotels in Hanoi to avoid but the Thien Thai is not one of them. I learned of the Thien Thi by way of the internet. I was lucky to be able to book a room because a lot of other people know of it's quality and the hotel fills up quick. The Thien Thi is all you ever need for a Hotel in Honoi and I am a picky person, so take it from me, It's a great place or I would have given the Thien Thi a bad rating. But I cant. It's all good. Can't say all that much good about the cab drivers in Hanoi though. Got to watch them all the time, they like to rip off the tourist.

I have now stayed at Thein Thai...
I have now stayed at Thein Thai Ha Noi 4 times over the last two years. I always find the staff and service of good and friendly standard, and am remembered as a frequent guest. The breakfast I always enjoy there has a wide variety of options. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are always clean. This time I had one small comment to make. I was disappointed to find that the bath had quite a few chips in the enamel and I would suggest that this be attended to as it does not give a good impression and for me this occassion tended to let the usual standard down. This was purely on presentation. It was the first time I have experienced this but for someone using the hotel for the first time their impression of the hotel could be rated by this. Please see this as a constructive comment and one which can be rectified. I am always welcomed warmly by all your staff no matter at what level they are employed. They are always polite and courteous without being effusive. I do recommend my friends to stay at the Thein Thai and had friends staying with you over recent days.

Our stay for 4 nights last July...
Our stay for 4 nights last July was OK. The staff was courteous and friendly while the breakfast was average. Since our large family occupied five rooms, we found that the size and quality of the rooms are quite different. Although the hotel location is not very far from Hoan Kiem lake, it is still a 30 minute walk.
