The most bad service hotel have ever experienced
Hotel is in good location basically. Most of the staffs also quite friendly, except one, made us feel very bad. Firstly, he tried to persuade us to join hotel's trip to halong bay but we never accept his offer, then he start to force us to accept a family room instead of 2 double room we had booked. when we showed him the booking confirmation then only agree to arrange double room very reluctantly. One of the room condition is bad: bathroom water floating over the floor, telephone not working. When we want to cancel the next 3 nights booking he also refused and threaten us have to pay full payment. In such circumstances we have no choice, stay for another 3 nights..but luckily change to better rooms. Overall this guy's attitude and personality left a very bad experience in staying at this hotel. He even sat at the reception counter with naked upper body when we check out in the early morning. We hope you will display this commends in your web site. Thank you!
It's all mechanical
This hotel is grouped in the same tiny (so tiny that it really is not at all easy to find) lane with a few other sister hotels so they have the option of moving customers around the few hotels should the need arise. Whether this is positive is moot because the quality of some rooms in these few hotels are really dodgy. So I guess it's fair to say your mileage may vary.
They are of course eager to get you to book their airport transfer for US$18 of course not wanting to tell you that the official airport transfer costs only $11. I did manage to find the official transfer and from then, their assistance level was close to zero. I suppose upset that I did not pay $18 for what should have been $11! They would not even help me with changing some US$ to VND and I could almost swear that the manager's face was sweeping the ground when I ask him to inform me in the room when the official transfer driver arrives. I know they want to make a profit but I take it as unacceptable such attitudes! Btw, just while I was checking in, there was another gentleman checking out with similar complaints. But it's quite obvious that the manager did not care. For this alone, I rate their service unacceptable.

Frist impressive with friendly hotel
My room was spacious and comfortable and the service was impeccable! I was so glad i chose Splendid Star hotel - one of the family hotels and enjoyed that personal service that a boutique hotel can offer. It is close enough to walk to Sword lake and even many famous destinations! The great point was that my room had a big view and sure i would certainly stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others. Thank you.
Great Hotel im Hanoi
This hotel is great.
We booked a superior room and we had a family room!
Beds are large and confortable, AC is quiet, crew is very nice and there is a computer with internet access inside the room!
And all that for a very small price (around 23USD)!
You can go there without worries.

Located in the center of Hanoi Old Quarter, but not noisy, very quiet and peace, safe
The staff was very helpful and polite. Ask and you will be given (served). Everyone was nice and chatty-not the formal hotel but friendly as the family. If you are down, Tom will cheer you with smile.
Room was a bit small but very clean and it is ok for me, the soap in bathroom has a good smell. Plenty of good amenities. Nice computer and Free stable wifi.
Breakfast was good and healthy. The bread was really good, I enjoyed it (my favorite), good fruits-served anytime if you ask for them. The coffee could be warmest though. A good point is location, located in the center, just by foot to get out, but very quiet when come back for sleep and relax. Not noisy, peace and safe.

Good choice and value for money
We stayed at this hotel for only one night, this hotel has a great location, true as the description in Asiarooms. Very close and only in walking distance. All of the staff were very helpful and pleasant, willing to support the best things in Hanoi.
The room's decor gave one the feeling of home, very relax and comfortable. Our first surprise was impressed by a clean room with bathroom as it was clean, spacious & boasts of a standing rainforest shower system. In addition, the bed was super comfy.
Although it was raining all day but we still went out because we could take an umbrella from hotel, it was for free.We definitely would not mind going back to the hotel to stay next time. All above, we had a pleasant stay there! Thank you for making our great stay.

Very bad experience
We booked 2 nights in the Splendid Star to start off our Vietnam tour, but it turned out to be quite a bad experience.
First of all, the agreed ride from the airport didn't show up so we had to get a taxi ourselves for 400.000 VND.
After that, the first night was Ok, but when we booked our trip to Ha Long Bay from a different tour agency as the hotel (we went with Ethnic Travel, they're very good!), they got very very cranky.
When it was time to check out, we had to pay $28 per night when the offer on Asiabookings was $19 (we didn't have proof of that on us, sadly). Also they charged us $10 a night to keep our bags when most other places turn out to do that for free (and at first they had promised to do it for $10 flat).
So, we would definitely not recommend going here.
Great hotel
We were booked into this hotel for one night. On arrival they took care of two package tours that were fantastic. The tour guides were very good and the standard of the tours were great. The staff at the hotel were excellent, one even escorting us to an overnight train, carried our bags and made sure we safely got on to the right train. The hotel was on the edge of the Old Quarter, within walking distance of most attractions, and about a block from the Cathederal. Would definately recommend this hotel.
Contented and like to stay here next time!
good location, easy to walk to the Cathedral and other travel place in quarter. our room was tidy and comfortable, towels were made and changed new when we arrived. Room equipments were enough and user-friendly. Staff were very pleasant and friendly, travel service desk were helpful. We were contented and would like to stay here for the next time.

This is Richard Vincent and I stayed at the Splendid Star with my wife and sister-in-law. We got a lot of help from the manager and staff for tours here and in Halong Bay and we will be telling our friends about this place.I will definitely be coming back because I really like the VietNamese people amd have had a good experience here.
