I had a truly enjoyable stay and the service from the staff was good. The room I had was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a mix of western and local - I opted for the local pho and spring rolls usually but ocassionaly would have a toast or two.
Overall, the hotel is truly good value (as the name suggests) and ideally located in the Old Quarter.

New Name, Same Excellent Service
We discovered this hotel (previous name of Asia Palace Hotel 2 Hanoi) from our extensive internet search and comparison. Through such efforts and email correspondence with the management, we decided to book this hotel. From the other reviews you’ll be surprised that some of the guest(s) gave this hotel (previous name) a poor rating. We learned later that the supposed poor rating was intended for its sister hotel with the same name + the suffix #1. Much to the confusion and disadvantage of travellers, this is very common in Hanoi...not only amongst hotels, but also with tour companies and restaurants. We have been travelling a lot throughout the Asian region, and you won’t find a greater service and facilities at the room rate they offer. Most, if not all, of the staff have a good command of the English language enabling them to be very helpful in assisting you to find your ways around the city, booking you a vehicle, etc. We’ll definitely stay here again, if we were to come back in the future.

5-star service
This was the first time we traveled as a family to another country for vacation. We were very concern at first whether this hotel is going to be a family friendly hotel since it is rated 3 star. However, our worry disappeared the moment we checked in. The hotel staffs were so friendly that we felt like home the moment we walked in. The room was big enough for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children - 8 and 10 years old). The room was very clean and quite (this is important because Hanoi's street is very busy and noisy). Excellent location. Room even have computer and internet connection for free which you don't get it in a 5-star hotel. The staffs worked hard to meet our request. They even brought us a back massage machine. They helped us book our tour package. Although not the best price, the tour was reliable and enjoyable one. The breakfast was good although limited choice. We enjoyed the Pho and our kids loved it so much. Yes, the Vietnamese coffee is a must have and the hotel served very good coffee. In summary, this is a 3-star hotel but with a 5-star service. Definitely recommend to anyone travel with children.

The rooms are very clean and nice. The manager and staffs are very helpful. The location is in the old quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake is only about 5- 10 minutes walking distance. Overall I am very satisfied with the hotel and will gladly recommend it to other people. Should be careful with the travel agent stationed in the hotel though. It is wiser to ask around for the quotation first. After bargaining hard for trip to Halong Bay for 13 people, I still pay $10 more for the same service gotten by other people on the same boat. I asked him to buy SE1 train tickets which arrived early in the morning and ended up with HN1 tickets that arrived 2 hours later in Hue, messing up my itinerary.

A little disapointing
Room itself was fairly good, but the walls are paperthin. Good customer service, good english skills all round.
Breakfast was a bad experience, food being either cold or unappetizing and coffee purely undrinkable. Good location.

The hotel is well located, it is close to many good restaurants. The room was beautiful and clean. However, during our last night, we didn't sleep very well. It sounded like a rat was scratching the walls. It was not in the room but between the walls.
The breakfast was nice, we especially liked the pho soup but they didn't offer a nice selection of fruits like other hotels, only bananas. A better selection of bread/pastries would have been nice, too.

A little cosy room...
Went there with low expectations of a room, but to our surprise, it was clean and neat and have amenities like kettles and hair dryer and safebox... even had 3 terminals for internet access.. room has got wifi too that allows facebooking... (apparently u can't fb at some wifi spots)
Breakfast was good too and the spread were decent enough.
The only kink was it's a tad to small for us to put our stuff but it's not a big issue to find space. this is a sure comeback if i am not keen to check out other hotels next time.

Lovely hotel, Highly recommended
We stayed there for two nights and had a lovely spacious decorative room with all mod cons and a great shower. We had a window looking onto the street below but there was no noise as it was double glazed and had shutters outside as well so it was very quiet. Great location too - close to the lake.
Breakfast was fine, eggs cooked to order and a few other savoury and sweet selections that changed daily, or more traditional noodle soups cooked by the attendant chef. All of the staff were very friendly and professional with good english and lots of good advice. I had booked our Halong Bay cruise with Kenny by email before we arrived which saved some hassle. The staff went out of their way to help us out in any way they could which was much appreciated, including phoning a restaurant one night to make sure they stayed open for us.
Only minus point - On our return from Halong Bay we had booked a "Luxury" room which turned out to be not much bigger than the Deluxe room we had previously, but it didnt have a proper window to outside, but onto the stairwell. There was a lot of noise downstairs that night which travelled up the stairwell until midnight which was disappointing. Therefore I wouldnt bother paying the extra for this room as the Deluxe room was actually better. Despite this anomaly, I would highly recommend this hotel for its excellent staff, stylish rooms, cleanliness, good value and great location.
