Staff were the highlight
Hotel is very old and somewhat of a fire hazard with no auto sprinklers or detectors. Smokers have free range of the place, but fortunately didn't offend us. Staff were very polite and very helpful at all times, and this made the stay more enjoyable. Breakfast? Not what you'd call appetising, but runs a parallel with most inner city establishments. Quite handy to the centre of the town lake, whereby one could get a jog in, albeit at 5.30am with another 2,000 people wandering around the lake. Great atmosphere so early in the morning. Came back from Halong Bay quite late, and the manager gave us a complimentary use of the facilities, which proved to be a great gesture, as we were outbound on an overnight train an hour or so later. Overall we really enjoyed our stay there.
