room issues and other
having originally had a double room for myself and my partner and a twin room for our two male travelling companions we went on an overnight boat trip. on our return the twin room had been changed to a double stating "toilet issues". this was a lie, they had rented out the room while we were gone and continued to do so for the rest of our stay.
the food in the restaurant came from a take away store still in the boxes and was over priced.
initially i had thought the staff spoke good English but had a number of issues with trying to pay for things.
TV's worked one day but not the next. stated "network issues" but yet works in the restaurant and some rooms.
no power in one room; made an inquiry and had no luck then checked the fuse box ourselves to find it was simply a fuse. only one computer for the hotel with internet that was so slow that once you logged into something you couldn't log out.
ordered the "hotel car" for the airport and triple check it was booked and had prepaid for it. after waiting 20 mins the next morning was told it was never booked.
the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

High expectations - low fact
Stating from the good reviews we were looking forward to our stay at the Hanoi Spark Hotel in Hanoi. I had had a lot of mail conversation with the manager beforehand, where they made many promises about how great our room would be (they even granted us an upgrade) and how they had bought us train tickets, as I had asked them to do.What a shock, when we finally arrived: The room was noisy, quite dirty (in the corners) and with lots of smelly mould on the ceiling. They had not - as already stated - bought any train tickets, so we ended up with hard sleeper tickets instead of soft sleeper, because the train was already full. No reaction, no apologies when I confronted the staff.I would not recommend staying there, even though they might have some nice rooms as seen on their website, it seems that they are not well taken care of and you might end up (like us) with an ugly one.

I actually came to Spark Hotel few nights before my stay. I booked their all tours on the ineternet and discussed through emails. what's professional they were with quick response and ready for any question or confusing. Although I didn't book any accommodation on the first day when I arrive in Hanoi, as I went to Sapa trip that night, they still gave you a free room to relax I'm sure! That's such a nice touch. Check out the room at 3pm and taken to station at 7pm. Rooms were clean and very comfortable ( just the bed was quite hard for me. Maybe this is Vietnamese favorite), with good shower and sparkly. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the girl in the restaurant to receptionist and bellman.... Hotel is located in the heart of old quarter and supper closed to the lake, with various restaurants around. I was lucky to have very good weather and tours in Sapa and Ha Long Bay by hotel organization. 2 nights in Sapa and 1 night on the beautiful boat in Ha Long bay gave me wonderful experiences. I would like to recommend this hotel for everybody who are considering to travel to Hanoi.
Great Location and Really Luxury Room in Brand New Hotel In Hanoi
Great Location,great room, great service, restaurant serves great food too. Staffs in the hotel were so helpful and very friendly. We got really good time and Experience when staying here.
I would love to recommend to all travelers if you Have time to Stay in Hanoi and pass to Halong 2 days or 3 days. The best place for tourist sites and best value for the room and services.
EXCELLENT LOCATION AND GREAT ROOM
In One Word " Excellent "
We arrived after an overnight flight and were pleasantly welcomed with a morning coffee and warm smiles at the reception. Our room was not available yet for check-in so we opted to wait in the lobby whilst having a coffee. About an hour later, the guest services officer came up to us and offered us an option to change to another room, which was available immediately for check-in. She first showed us the room (a corporate suite) and informed us of the difference in room rate. We were rather tired from the flight and were grateful to be able to check into any room, so we decided to go ahead and take the suite (which wasn't very much more expensive than the deluxe). We truly appreciate this gesture as it shows the staff were constantly thinking about how to make their guests more comfortable.
