Hi,I'm writing my opinion hoping that this hotel will change the way of serving customers in the near future.
I thought that this hotel would be good enough for me to stay longer but it's bad more than I expected.
Receptionists did not let me stay with my wife in the same room just because I'm American and she is Vietnamese having our marriage certificate in process.
Second,the hall way of this hotel is extremely hot without air conditioner. Facilities inside the room are also small and it makes me feel like I'm living in the box.
If you would like to know if I'm right about it or not,you can check it out.

Great location across from the park. The breakfast that was included in our stay was satisfactory, but did the trick. The smoky rooms were 'supposedly' non-smoking but this was hard to communicate with the hotel staff. Very little English is spoken by the hotel staff but they we exceptionally friendly. It helped a great deal to book with AsiaRooms.com as we found out that the prices they were offering to hotel guests not booking in advanced was nearly double the price we paid.

The staff were exceptionally friendly very nice people who tried to help when asked, but the main english they spoke was sign language. We did not meet any staff that could speak fluent english. The Bath room needed several small but neccessary maintenance issues resolved and the colours of the tiles clashed. Missing grout, varnish overspray,chipped glass shelf and more gave the appearance of tacky. Weddings most nights and music from the kareoke floor meant no sleeping before 9.30pm.This hotel is walking distance to the markets and KFC but for the $1 or under cost take a taxi. It was dissapointing to find that to use internet you had to bring your own computer or pay to use the hotels own under supervision in their office.Most of the other hotels have computers for use of internet free for patrons. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. Juice was powdered cordial,boiled eggs were raw,bacon was nearly non existant and all fat,meat products were dry and stale,and when the cook smells the egg mix before he cooks your omelette you can only wonder. The breakfast was generally unappealing.On arrival we were asked to pay all 5 nights up front and after inspecting the room was told no refunds.Better value can be found elsewhere.

When I read comments I noticed many very positive comments about food, and one negative.
Food seemed ok to me but I got poisoned last day at breakfast.

The Saigon Star is quite a tired...
The Saigon Star is quite a tired hotel in need of a refurb. There's nothing wrong with it but you can get far far better hotels for less money in a better location. Plus points were the reasonable breakfast and nice view from the rooftop bar for a sundowner. An ok hotel but it's unlikely I would stay there again.
