The Vien Dong is well located in a part of Ho Chi Minh City that has many other small hotels and good places to eat. The hotel is newish, and the room we had was large, airy and clean, and the bathroom was also clean and well serviced. The service in the hotel was efficient and the reception staff were good sources of information about the surrounding area. The included breakfast on the top floor was outstanding French and Vietnamese buffet - varied and interesting, and the breakfast room also has a great view of HCMC. The omelet was particularly good. We stayed there twice and would confidently recommend it. Alastair Dow - Adelaide South Australia.

Nice, knowledgeable staff, great breakfast service. The rooms weren't bad either although you should not expect carpet floors since they have tiles (common in southeast asian countries due to the hot climate). This hotel is in the middle of the "backpacker's avenue" and most of the city's points of interest are within distance.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel - the hotel was in a very good position for tourist shops, very central. The ground floor restaurant was very nice, the restaurant staff very polite and helpful. The internet facility good, and staff friendly. I had a foot massage and vietnamese massage - good value, although my body massage which included face - injured my nose and exisiting scar tissue which 1 week post massage is still sore!!! And it was difficult to communicate stop!!!! Quick enough!!! The room was very clean, comfortable and well presented. I would recommend staying at this hotel - just be careful with the massages!!!

Our stay at the Vien Dong hotel in Ho Chi Minh City was very pleasant. The location of the hotel is close enough to the market places and tourist cafes. The hotel gives very good dollar to dong conversion rates as well...better have your dollars exchanged here than at the airport. The breakfast buffet was great! We enjoyed our morings very much. They offer amn array of breakfast fare that would suit different food preferences. The hotel room is neat and clean but simple. The hotel staff are helpful.....very good value for your money. I would recommend this hotel to any tourist with a budget staying at Saigon.

we've stayed in the Vien Dong hotel for total of about 10 days and we love it. the room is very comfortable clean but the breakfast is the same everyday.

Very decent hotel, clean, friendly staff. No frills, but a good place to stay if you want to keep your costs down. Conveniently located in the so-called backpacker district, lots of bars, restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Of course, there are more luxurious options in HCMC if you are prepared to shell out and cheaper places for the shoestring traveller. This is middle-of-the road.
