Upgrade to Deluxe
We booked a Superior room as we had previously but this time it was a much lower quality room than in the past. The reason given was that on previous occasions they had upgraded us to Deluxe because they had overbooked. We paid $20 per night extra and were upgraded to a lovely room with balcony and a view over the main street. Location is the best in town and breakfast buffet is very good. They do a Seafood buffet at night which is exceptional value. Desk staff were a bit remote in their attitude but the restaurant and foyer staff were great

Hotel facility is worth the money paid. However, service level at reception is low. In addition, a club next door makes huge noise even after midnight. I stayed at 5th floor, but could still feel the beat all night.

We have recently stayed here for 5...
We have recently stayed here for 5 nights and after considering the pro's and con's would stay here again. The rooms are rather dated but perfectly clean. Having said that there is no way I would describe it as a 4 star hotel. There is an odd smell around the place but I think it's probably durian not mold as some have suggested. We asked for two rooms. They were on the same floor but not right next to each other. We loved our room which was facing the main drag. We were on the third floor so you get all the traffic noise. Constant hooting and mayhem, who cares? It's Saigon and great fun to watch. The kids room was less ambient. It faced a side street. They had noise too but not traffic noise. They were woken in the middle of the night by booming night club music. I'm sure I could have requested another room but at 12 and 15 they aren't really strangers to loud music and they seemed to adjust. Staff were friendly and polite in all sectors. Breakfast was interesting, The first morning we arrived to a feeding frenzy. People everywhere and nowhere to sit except for an annex area without aircon and people smoking all around, yuck! I think this might be unusual though because every other day was peaceful with plenty of choice of seats. The food was great with lots of options. The Palace is in a great location on the main boulevard with all the places of interest within walking distance (if you dare.) It is expensive for what you get especially after we spent 3 weeks in Thailand where we got so much more in the hotels we booked for much less money. We could have found cheaper in district one but we really wanted a pool. There are signs saying the pool is closed on Monday's but it is actually open from 12 so we didn't feel ripped off. They do close it at 6pm which I think is rather early. The pool is small but not many people seem to use it so it's perfectly adequate. There are stunning views from the roof. We ate at the Lemongrass twice. It was great food, again super views. We spent a long time looking for the fitness centre. There is an ancient exercise bike thing which doesn't work properly out in the open by the pool also some weights contraption. We thought 'surely they aren't referring to those as a 'fitness centre????' But they were, a bit cheeky. Anyway this meant we got up early every morning to walk the streets of Saigon playing Frogger with the traffic which was probably much more fun as you see so many interesting things (although it turned walking into an extreme sport.)

It seems that u r the agent...
It seems that u r the agent for them, hence, the price is inclusive of VAT and it should be lower. But, the Hotel clearly shown USD70 if I get from there. Therefore, I'm paying slighly more at USD77. No, I'm not complaining. With a slightly better price, they should at least give a better facing room. At first, they gave me a room as Level 2 and rejeted it immediately but they said no more. Upon seeing the room, I walked out.I dont want the room. After this, then they told me they have another at Level 8. There is no gym but only 2 equipments idling there. They dont seem to work anyway. Is that consider a gym or playground? I won't stay again at this Hotel. Thank you.

We stayed in a suite room in...
We stayed in a suite room in the old wing. room size is good but the room is old and air con has a musty smell which is not too pleasant. Also the TV has only local channels which is of absolutely no use to us! Another complaint is that a couple of the restaurant staff at breakfast buffet are rude and unhelpful, very unexpected as I have always encountered very professional and friendly hotel staff whenever I travel in the far east countries like indonesia, thailand, malaysia. My mother happened to use a noodle bowl to fill up her porridge, and the server at the noodle section was very nasty about it, even to the extent of complaining loudly to her other colleagues. And all over the wrong bowl used, unbelievable! Another incident is that my 9-year old daughter asked the fruit juice waitress for a glass of water and the waitress insisted that my daughter pour the water herself from the pitcher which is on a high counter even though my daughter may not be able to manage without spilling the water or even dropping the pitcher, and all the time the waitress was standing in front of the water pitcher! Next trip that I travel to HCM which will be in 6 months time, I will not stay in Palace Hotel again, thank you very much!
