The location is fantastic. Lots of food places and shopping at the Ben Thanh market nearby. However, the hotel is very simply furnished and the lobby and restaurant floor smells like a storm drain at low tide!
We spent 3 days in Nov 2007...
We spent 3 days in Nov 2007 as a family of 2 adults and one 12-yr old. Hotel is very centrally located so we hardly needed to take a taxi. We walked to the "antique/furniture" lanes round the back and visited the Art museum, then walked to the computer games/electronics street two blocks away. Also the Ben Thanh market was just 5 minutes walk away. We walked major streets "uptown and downtown" for a mix of food and shopping options. Certainly gives you a good feel of the city.
Hotel seemed recently renovated. Clean and presentable.
We stayed in the Deluxe rooms. Not very cheap but very clean. Strongly recommend for those who don't want to pay 5 star prices but demand aircon, bed and bathroom comfort - ie"as good if not better than an home feel" Good value.

We stayed at the Liberty 2 for two nights and found it to be a very pleasant stay. We arrived very early our first day, and while they were unable to give us our room right away, they treated us to a compliamentary breakfast and held our bags so we could begin exploring the city. The location is really convenient to all the major sights we wanted to see, and the staff was very helpful in making sure our stay was great. The breakfast included in our room was very good, but we found the lunch/dinner menu a little expensive for what we got, needles to say we only had one meal in the restuarant aside from breakfast. Also, the bar attached to the hotel is overpriced, but the bar fridge in the rooms was very reasonable. Overall we had a great stay at the Liberty 2 and would recommend it to other travellers looking for a nice and affordable place to stay.

quite a comfortable stay in our executive suite. Down side is there are a lot of traffic around our area. Can get kinda noisy in the early morning ard 6am with all the horning and noise from the moving vehicles. Afternoon too.
I was leaving the hotel with my digi cam swinging from my hands. The hotel guard actually dashed acros the road to tell me its dangerous to carry it like that. V good attentive staff.
Breakfast spread is buffet. There is variety of Viet food but kinda sux. I prefer Singapore food. heh.
Ben Than mkt is diagonally opposite the...
Ben Than mkt is diagonally opposite the hotel. In fact, I can see the mkt from my hotel room. Overall, its a good staying experience, especially considering the price that you are paying.
However, do avoid 9th floor if you can. 10th floor is the restaurant, and part of 9th floor are private rooms for the restaurant. So during days where there are functions at the private rooms, you will get ppl/waiters lingering outside your hotel room. There is only 5-6 rooms per level and on level 9, there is only 2 rooms where the rest are private restaurant rooms.
