We had 5 people in our party. The room with three people was excellent. It was spacious and cute and the bathroom was a wonderful size. However, the room for just the two people was a lot smaller. It also reeked of smoke. Although the management offered to move the rest of our party, there were not any other rooms on our floor that were open. So, the three bedroom room was nice, but the two was not as nice. The front desk overall was helpful, but we felt that one time we were taken advantage of concerning money. Still we would choose to stay in this hotel. It is quaint, cute, and clean.

As this is a small, cosy hotel, you get to know the staff there on your first night's stay. They are very friendly; give good direction to places. I do recommend staying for a few nights.
You can truly relax when you return from a day of excursion/ business. Some rooms are bigger than others though.
The hotel is fairly convenient - next to a supermarket, 5-10 minutes to downtown and eateries. After all, HCM City is quite small!
I'd come back to THIS ONE if I'm in town.

I liked the new paint, brick floors, clean, but once in town we shopped around a bit and found better value for our money. Basically what we were paying for was the convenience of the internet reservation and prepayment. When we wanted to change a room from a single to a double they would not give us the internet rate. Restaurant where buffet breakfast was served cold only seat about 14 people and it was often full.

We will never come back again! We booked a tour at the reception, staff told us the wrong pick-up time ... the next morning they called us about two hours before the expected departure when we were still sleeping.
Check-out took almost 45 minutes. As the staff couldn´t find one of the towels (which had never been in our room when we arrived) they wanted us to pay for it...
Furthermore, the rooms are small & dark, breakfast is poor ... don´t stay here!
Had a great stay at the Empress...
Had a great stay at the Empress hotel. We extended our stay becuase the service was so good. Enjoyed the fact that it was in a quieter part of town but at the same time not too far out. Lovely, friendly staff, accomodating manager and clean, quiet room. All in all a wonderful stay.

Generally speaking, Empress Hotel is good one...
Generally speaking, Empress Hotel is good one for budget travelers due to the competitive price. The rooms are clean and the service are Ok.
But I have to say the surrounding area is not so clean, the hotel and the rooms are quite small as for a 3 star rank. It is somewhat noisy because it's near the road.
By the way, not offering the hot water in the evening is not so convenient.
But the prices are cheap, it can not be required as a 5 star hotel.

We enjoyed our stay, the hotel was excellent, great location - very safe area and the staff were lovely the only complaint we had was the room was a bit small. We would definately recommond this hotel. The breakfast was excellent.

Empress is starting to show signs of wear, without much maintenance.. Not good value for money.

Hotel is probably the best value for money in Saigon. Rooms are quite small but well kept. Room ammenities are also as complete despite the very cheap hotel rates. Breakfast is so so since it is not a buffet, but beggars can't be chosers. If you want a buffet breakfast free with your room, then you should go to the more expensive hotels, right? Try this hotel out. You won't regret it.
