Gorgeous grand hotel in a perfect position...
Gorgeous grand hotel in a perfect position right at the end of Dong Khoi St and overlooking the river. Rooms were very spacious, with one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, and a HUGE bath. Great breakfast buffet on the 5th floor with amazing views of the ever bustling river. Pool area is lovely, if a little smaller than expected, but still great for lounging around.
The Majestic - the name says so...
The Majestic - the name says so much about it. This was fantastic, the room was splendid (we opted for a Colonial Saigon River Deluxe Room) - well worth it. The sound proofing on the hotel is great. I slept like a log even although our room was above the main entrance looking over the river. This is a fantastic room to have, the small balcony was great for looking at the river and bike traffic below.
The bathroom is one of the best I've seen with superb quality fittings. Don't miss the roof terrace for a drink or a meal, or even the breakfast restaurant as it is used for evening dining too. Both offer great views of the city and river.
I wanted to stay there for our entire holiday, but alas we needed to move on.
It is very handy for all the normal sights, even to the markets it is less than $2 by taxi. Everything else is walking distance and plenty of good places to eat.

A wonderful hotel with excellent service.
Well worthwhile to pay a bit extra for a Deluxe River View room. The only irritating thing about the whole Majestic Hotel experience is the lecherous blokes working in the Carpet shop on the ground floor.

I had a lovely time, the facilities were just fine and the service was particularly good. In particular the concierge staff were excellent in giving advice and getting taxis, establishing taxi rates in advance. For a newcomer to Vietnam, it was an excellent choice of hotel and location.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Majestic. Excellent service, fresh fruit in our rooms every day and the room was delightful. We also enjoyed having our breakfast on the 5th floor terrace overlooking the Mekong river.

The new wing is very classy. The staff is perfect: they are attentive to your every needs, friendly, courteous, and speak English very well, even the cleaning staff! The open breakfast buffet area on the 5th floor is nice and breezy. The buffet selection is quite complete even for a picky eater.
The riverview is nice, but can get noisy after a while. I recommend booking riverview a few days and if you have problem sleeping, switch to the less expensive gardenview room.
A very nice, grand early 20th century...
A very nice, grand early 20th century style hotel. The management did an excellent job of capturing the ambiance of the by-gone French colonial ambiance. We stayed at the Junior Suite and it was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed at in a long time. For large families, try to family suite which is absolutely generous in terms of room size.
Overall a very pleasant stay and we would recommend it as an alternative from the highrise modern hotels.
