Good location if you want to visit the Old Town. Was pleasantly surprised by the large compound of the hotel and nice environment.
The staff and service were generally ok, by Vietnamese standards ( I have visited other cities in Vietnam a number of times, read below for details ).
I stayed in Junior Room located on top floor of a 3-storey buiilding in 1 of the wings. The room was large, bright and clean.
I was there alone and given a twin bed room when I expected a large queen or king sized bed.
While housekeeping faithfully restocked the toiletries and free bottled water for the 2 nights I stayed, they seems to have forgotten to set-up the bed to a standard expected of a hotel, There were no blanket or comforter on the bed, just a thin sheet that seems to pass off as blanket. I had to take the blanket from the cupboard myself. Hotel housekeeping staff in Vn have a long way to go!
There was no lift in the building and noticed some of the older folks struggling to climb up 3 floors. So, ask for a lower floor room if you have problem with stairs.
The hotel seems to have overlooked building a sheltered walkway from this wing , to existing sheltered walkways that connect to the main building. Saves the hassle of carrrying umbrella on a rainy day!
There was also blackout for 5-10 mins each of the 2 nights I was there, but that might an infrastructure problem of the town, which is quite prevalent in Vietnam.
As I stayed for only 2 nights, the faults I mentioned were tolerable and I didn't have any high expectations to begin with, so was generally quite satisfied
