My husband and I stayed at the...
My husband and I stayed at the Vinpearl in August 2009 fro four nights. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The island the resort is located on is just beautiful and the beach is superb. When we arrived to check in they told us that they were having a promotion for July and August and our breakfast, lunch and dinner were all included in teh room rate! Bonus! Downsides were that the place was overrun by Russians, we were greeted in Russian at the door, our welcome letter from the hotel was in Russian and teh hotel spa had even run out of English menus :( The food wasn't brilliant, buffets all the way but it was free so couldn't complain. It's also very easy to access the mainland by boat and cable car so we ate in Nha Trang a few times. The Asiana restaurant at the hotel was closed which was a shame because it looked nice. Mini Golf was also overgrown and disused. Parasailing, jet skiing and kayaking were popular and affordable. Such a great location to go parasailing!!!

We were very disappointed this time at...
We were very disappointed this time at Vinpearl. We had stayed at Vinpearl the last 3 times we were in Vietnam 2005,2006,2007 and we were very, very happy. This year for some reason during the time we stayed there, we were put in the hotel's new building which was mostly used for group/tour travelers and local vietnamese (and almost all were locals-was there a promotion?). The rooms in this new building were smaller, way too noisy. We had to complained to the manager to move us to the other (bigger) building in which we had always stayed in the previous times, because of loud noises and the unruliness of the other (local Vietnamese) travelers. Lunch and dinner were included (all inclusive this time), but the food was not very good. I kept wondering how were the foreigners going to eat? We used to think of Vinpearl as "affordable luxury", peace and quiet. However, we were quite shock this time-unexpected. The cost went up and the hospitality went way down. My advice is to call the hotel and ask if they are having a promotion for the locals, if they are, then don't stay there. We really like the time we stayed at Vinpearl before--beautiful, peaceful, complete relaxation. But this time, we were very saddened by how it has changed.

Resort facilities were good, breakfast very good...
Resort facilities were good, breakfast very good BUT other meals very ordinary - need to call in Gordon Ramsey to sort out the chef. I got ill the first night I arrived from a cheese and grape platter - grapes were not washed, tried the Vietnamese buffet, not much there for vegetarians and the cooked food was not kept hot enough to keep bacteria from forming. Do not reccomend eating at the resort which is a pity because it has great potential for wonderful dining on the beach. Also tour desk told me Hue was 4 hours away by car - which is incorrect it is only about 45mins - so we missed out on seeing an important part of Vietnamese culture - very annoyed about this.

The service was good, but for a 5 star hotel the food was not exceptional, it was mediocre at best. The breakfast buffet was o.k, and the dinner buffet was quite disappointing. It lacked variety, and the food that was there was quite basic and bland. The water in the ocean was somewhat dirty because of some rubbish floating around in it.

We found this hotel very relaxing with exceptional service. When my wife lost our camera, the hotel went to great lengths to search for it and return it to us. They gave my wife a complimentary cake on her birthday. In general, they really looked after us. The only negatives were that it took 5 minutes before the water was hot enough for a shower and the location is a free speedboat + a 55000 dong cab fare to the city. We would recommend this hotel to those who want a relaxing holiday.

Great hotel, staff always happy to help when needed. Boats to mainland run very frequently so no problems getting back and fourth when you want to. Pool is huge so can always find a quite spot to swim and lay, beds on the beach (own private beach) and tray service. Only complaint (very minor) is the rides at the theme park and water park aren't open often so may be disappointing for kids etc.

I booked a triple room for 3 adults and 1 child. I paid breakfast for the child. The room was actually a double room with an extra bed, so there was not much room to move around. The booking process was not very family friendly. Had to go through several emails to get things straightened out. The services at the hotel were exceptional. A couple restaurants on site need improvements in number of staff as well as ensuring that there are no preferential treatments among guests. Good place for western food. For Vietnamese food, go to the city. For budget travellers, I would recommend staying at a hotel on the city side. Take the cable car ride to the island to make use of the water park. Nha Trang is beautifull and worth to come back, but not necessarily the same hotel.
