The night we arrived (valentine's day)we were given an absolutely disgusting room No 400. The bathroom door had glass missing, the shower door was cracked and filthy, the electric boiler sited in the shower had bare wires showing and the ducting for the air conditioning units for our room and next door was weaved through the shower cubilcle, bathroom and to the outside wall. There were no pictures on the walls and the lights had no lampshades just bare bulbs. After complaining profusely, as we had booked four months earlier and had expected a good room, we were told the hotel was full and we could only be moved for our second night. Unhappily we agreed. The next morning we went for breakfast, but it was so busy that there was hardly any food left, no cups, no cutlery, no glasses for juice and no coffee. We had bread and jam for breakfast! They moved us to another room that morning which was much better, because it was in the new part of the hotel. The old part of the hotel is awful. That evening we went downstairs expecting a buffet like the night before, but we were the only ones staying at the hotel and there was no buffet. We ordered a meal which was terrible and went to bed hungry. On our last morning we came down for breakfast, but NO buffet breakfast so all they could offer us was an omlette and bread. Although the staff tried to make us happy, the facilities and service was terrible and we would never stay there again. In fact the whole town of Tam Coc is a total rip off for tourists..the most expensive town in all of Vietnam and its only saving grace is the breathtaking scenery.Tourists BEWARE and only visit this town as a day trip as it is not worth an overnight stay.
