My wife and I were greeted by very friendly reception staff who had worked out who we were before i had said our names. They were helpful and polite and generally all smiles.
Our room was somewhat functional but clean and warm and the beds were comfortable. The only thing lacking really were tea making facilities, which in fairness is often the case, and i think a dvd player is useful. My only other comment is that the pillows are terrible i eventually slept on three! they were so light and 'airy'.
The breakfast was continental (hardly surprising), and very nice with many different cold meats, breads, yoghurts, fruit, and juices to choose from also croissants and bacon and sausages and omelette with ham. About forty different teas and also fresh coffee.
The bar nice and the staff friendly and helpful, there was a constant aroma of burnt pines or something like that that came from the open fire that was in the middle of the room. My only complaint here was that one night my wife and I came back early to sit in the bar and chill but the bar had already shut, at about ten fifteen!
The location was great and very handy to the number 100 hundred bus (just round the corner, which some other punter has already said was such a great bus. Easy walking distance to the Ka De Ve and we had many lunches there and the U-bahn.
Over all a very enjoyable stay in Berlin and it was made more enjoyable by the Golden Tulip Hotel.
